There is a good chance folks hear “family atmosphere” a lot when looking around for a new position, but at Fort Hays Tech | Northwest, we actually live it. We are firm believers in an “all-in” culture of doing what is needed to get the job done. We have a little over 70 employees on our team of faculty, staff, and administration, and we do everything we can to support one another and - most importantly - our students. Sometimes this means we have team members helping run mud volleyball pits, serving popcorn to students, jumping in as guest speakers in classes, serving together on our community volunteer day, and a variety of on-campus projects we run every year.

Our Community


If you are not from the area and are considering a position here, the community of Goodland is a wonderfully warm little city on the High Plains. We have a little over 3,500 people in the county and incredible support (that continues to grow) from our community and workforce partners for the work we do at the college. We have one of the largest service areas in the state of Kansas and we work hard to provide opportunities for students and employers across the 17 counties in NW Kansas we serve.

Program Success


Moving to the classroom and shops, we’re incredibly good at providing top-notch technical education for our students specifically designed to meet the needs of our employer partners. Each year, we consistently place in the top 25 two-year public colleges in the nation on our student success rates (i.e. our ability to get kids from orientation to graduation). That places us in the top 3% nationally for our ability to successfully provide education for our students. That doesn’t happen without an incredible team of employees in every role on campus.

Nearly all of our programs have achieved 100% job placement. Industry demand for our students is at an all-time high, salaries for our graduates are even higher, and it’s a great time to be in technical education.

 

Benefits


Insurance: We cover the cost of every employee’s single health plan through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas. This means as an employee, if you take the single plan coverage, there is no cost to you - we have you covered! If you need coverage for your family and/or kids, we apply the value of the single plan toward the coverage you need for your family.

Leave days: Vacation, Sick, Personal, Bereavement, Maternity/Paternity/Adoption are a part of our standard benefits package because a) life happens, and we all need the ability to take time off, and b) we want employees to have a great balance between work and life.

Retirement: Every employee participates in the KPERS (Kansas Public Employees Retirement System) program, which allows you to have retirement benefits when the time rolls around.
